LDS Church offers October General Conference time slot to Joe Rogan to host Presidential Debate

The internet has been astir lately with the recent news of podcast host and UFC commentator Joe Rogan offering to host the 2020 presidential debates. Nationally, this idea reached a peak level of virality thanks to the endorsement of President Donald Trump. In Utah, however, the stir was caused by a different endorsement.

On September 18, 2020, a statement to the press from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints reads:

“The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has always prided itself in being full of concerned and responsible citizens getting involved in their local communities, and the issues that matter most. Therefore, we are proud to announce that we have offered a time during the Saturday session of our October General Conference to the presidential debate moderated by Joe Rogan. We believe that this will help get our members involved in such an important election, and help more people be uplifted by the powerful spirit that is a part of General Conference.”

The Alternate Universe has reached out to Joe Rogan, President Donald Trump, and Joe Biden for comment, but no word has been received.

When asked about how the church will fill that time slot if the debate does not take place, a spokesperson for the church responded “I don’t know. We’ll just fill it with a member of the 70 or something.”
