Local Student Mistakenly Thinks Today’s ‘Friday Schedule’ Extends Beyond Classes

Earlier today, a student was put on probation after a series of events that happened as a result of BYU declaring that today was for Friday instruction, despite it being a Tuesday. Mitchell Hughes, a senior who lives at The Village, had four debacles as a result of this common confusion.

First, Hughes showed up 20 minutes late to his PS 100 class and missed an ever-important iClicker quiz, thinking today was a Tuesday, which normally begins with social dance.

Then, he was immediately fired from his job at the BYU Store after failing to show up to his Tuesday shift. Sources say he will not receive any severance.

Next, Hughes showed up to Fuego Friday, only to find out that no one was in fact “getting hot in here.” The popular weekend event has become a staple for this Provo All-Star, and he says it’s usually his favorite place to meet new singles in his area.

Worst of all, Hughes was caught staying at a girl’s apartment “watching Netflix” past curfew. “I swear I had no idea it wasn’t at 1:30 tonight. Is it not Friday?” he said. It was at this point that he finally put the pieces together and realized that it was, in fact, not Friday.

The Honor Code Office is currently investigating this heinous violation of the agreement he signed one time five years ago. At press time, Hughes was found back at the same girl’s apartment to continue “watching Netflix” on the couch, saying he “didn’t give a you know what” about breaking the Honor Code if it meant he could spend more time with the girl he just met after she also mistakenly showed up to Fuego Friday.
