“Park to Damascus” – Student is Forever Changed By Not Having Her Car Towed

A long time skeptic of modern miracles, BYU sophomore Sophie Roberts was hesitant to believe any holy influence involving anything from car keys to inexplicable medical recoveries. She never directly accused others of fabricating their stories, but silently carried her belief that they were doing it for attention.

Before the start of the Fall 2021 semester, Sophie moved into apartment 144 of her building and has since been parking in the same spot while going about her day. She also noticed the ever-present tow truck taking away cars parked in incorrect spots.  She saw that some stranger would lose months worth of plasma money instantly for such a small error—all the while having no clue that her car had been parking in someone else’s zone.

“Getting into my car this morning was when it first dawned on me that I had been parking wrong. I had been using 149 instead of 144 for an entire month! The font they chose was terribly misleading. Only an act of God could have spared me from getting towed. This has changed me deeply; This is my ‘road to Damascus.’ Please call me Pophie from now on.” said Pophie (formerly Sophie) Roberts.

“It’s been a whirlwind of a day,” shared Alyssah Jones, Pophie’s roommate. “I hardly recognize her. She’s actually done sackcloth and ashes, is considering shaving her head, and has booked a humanitarian trip to the Philippines. She believes it’s the same place that Paul preached in the Bible.”
