Utah Jazz Actually Hire Graphic Designer for New Uniforms

Yesterday the Utah Jazz announced a new slate of uniforms to replace the current on-court attire, including the infamous “highlighter” jerseys. The new uniforms will re-incorporate the famous blue, purple, and white mountains of the 1990s and 2000s.

The change comes as a welcome surprise to the fans after two years of uniforms that have been widely panned. In 2022, the team shifted from blue, green, and yellow to a minimalist uniform with black, white, and “highlighter” yellow. The uniforms were immediately disliked and the team went back to the drawing board.

In contrast to the last change, owner Ryan Smith decided to hire a real marketing and graphic design team to head up the process. “Yeah, last time I was pretty much just winging it. I figure this time I should actually hire people who know what they’re doing.”

Smith further explained the debacle that lead to the hated uniforms: “I wanted black and white, so I told my nephew to mock something up on Canva. He procrastinated and didn’t send me the mock-ups until the day they were due. When I opened up the files, they were boring and there was yellow. I didn’t want it, but it was too late.”

“I don’t believe in curses, but those highlighters were cursed,” said local fan Jensen McBenson.

Giles Hansen, the head of design at Logos R Us, said they didn’t really do much. “We pretty much just walked outside and asked some randos if the Jazz should go back to using purple and mountains. Literally everyone said yes.”
