BYU Student Arrested After Shooting Campus Deer

The deer that roam Brigham Young University’s campus are generally appreciated by faculty and students alike. They mostly keep to themselves and are greatly enjoyed whenever seen.

Multiple students walking on the south campus trail on the evening of February 13th reported seeing Colson Lowder, a junior in the construction management program, shoot a campus deer.

“I had stopped to watch the deer, since it’s always a treat to see one on campus, when suddenly a shot rang out and the deer just dropped dead.”

“I understand wanting to have a low-budget hunting trip, but it’s really dangerous to shoot guns in an area with such high foot traffic.”

“I have no regrets. It was a perfect 8-point buck.”

Since firearms are not permitted on BYU campus, Colson has been arrested and put in jail with a bail amount of $50000.
