“Minister? I Hardly Know Her”—Joke Falls Flat at 4th Disappointing Ministering Interview in a Row

As laid out in the handbook, the leadership of the Provo YSA 678th Ward attempts to carry out ministering interviews once a quarter. Shaleigh Howe, a junior at BYU, went into her interview knowing she had not done a single thing with any of the sisters to whom she is assigned to minister. Howe thought she could get away with a quick interview by using the same joke she has used during previous interviews: “Minister? I hardly know her!”

However, Relief Society president Shahaeyleigh McJohns saw right through Howe’s ruse and pressed further. Howe assured that she just keeps forgetting and that she will actually do something. “I’m making her cookies this week. I mean it this time.,” said Howe in a post-interview interview.

“Despite ample chances to clean up her act, Shaleigh still wouldn’t know her ministering sister was if her name and number were plainly listed in the LDS tools app,” said her less-active roommate.

Only time will tell if Shaleigh Howe will ever remember to get the ingredients, make the cookies, think of something to talk about, and take the cookies over before the end of next quarter.
