BYU STEM Career Fair Shut Down Early Due to Mysterious Odor in Wilkinson Ballroom

Internship application season is in full swing, and many students at BYU are trying to obtain that coveted internship. Amazingly, BYU has partnered with employers from all over the country to help make that a reality for students. One such event for that process was held today – the STEM Career Fair.

All seemed well at the fair, until students started arriving in droves. Employers and volunteers began complaining of a mysterious smell, with an unexplained cause. Theories ranged from mold in the vents to hidden dead bodies underneath the floors.

“We just had no idea what the smell was,” explained Cam Poney, a representative for one of the employers at the fair. “It was horrible, just hitting you in the face, but there’s not much you can do when you don’t know where it’s coming from.”

“I actually didn’t notice any smell,” reported Stan Keye, a senior in the computer science department. Stan is hoping to work in machine learning post-graduation, and was disappointed to miss out on the opportunities at the career fair.

Eventually, the odor got so bad that the fair was forced to cancel.

“There was nothing to do. We just had to cancel, and make plans to inspect the vents this week,” said Heather White, a representative from BYU Career Services.

Luckily, after the fair was over and everyone left, the smell was no longer present. The source of the enigmatic stink will likely never be found.
