Local Student’s Rendition of ‘Clocks’ on Wilk Piano Not Enough to Woo Love Interest

In an attempt to impress his newest crush, local pianist Seth Gingler was found playing Coldplay’s ‘Clocks’ in the Wilkinson Student Center Sunday afternoon. Unfortunately for Gingler, he was only able to muster a weird look from Tiffany Johnston, a junior majoring in communications from Peoria, Illinois.

“I totally thought this was gonna work,” said Gingler. “I know Tiff gets out of church at one o’clock on Sundays, so I was all ready to go when she walked past me. Ugh, I really should’ve gone with the Pirates of the Caribbean theme.”

Johnston had mixed feelings about the encounter. “I’ve always been more of a ‘Viva la Vida’ sorta gal,” she said. “The whole thing was kinda awkward, but hey, it takes an awkward guy to play piano in the WILK.”

Johnston also added that she was impressed enough to do Gingler the courtesy of respectfully declining his date invitation if he asks her out again, instead of leaving him on read like last time.

“I’ll bounce back. As my idol Napoleon Dynamite says, girls only want boyfriends who have great skills, and I certainly have some of those,” he said while awkwardly winking. At press time, Gingler was found furiously printing out sheet music for The Piano Guys’ arrangements of “A Thousand Years” and “Waterfall.”
