Student film major distraught after relief society lesson did not pass the Bechdel test

After attending second hour on Sunday, Enya Erinberg, a junior in the BYU media arts program, was shocked that the Relief Society discussion did not align with progressive Hollywood values.

In a defiant rage, Erinberg stated, “The only topic of conversation was Jesus and President Nelson. You’d think that a room full of women could find something better to do than gossip about men.”

Although Enya’s anticipations were raised as she entered the classroom and found two or more women speaking to each other, her hope in feminist humanity was quickly lost within 4 minutes of listening to the discussion about President Nelson’s most recent talk.

“Just when an exchange between two sisters was about to pass the Bechdel test, their comments always related back to Jesus Christ. I was highly disappointed,” she stated, shaking her head.

Emma Schmith, relief society president of the Provo YSA 1133rd ward in the Provo YSA 587th stake, shared her thoughts on the matter.

“Some sisters are harder to love, and we are trying to minister to Enya to the best of our abilities. It’s all hands on deck at this point.”

Only time will tell if future church meetings will succeed in validating Hollywood through achieving proper female representation.
