Spring Day Results in Thousands of Breakups

Holiday breaks are dangerous for college couples—especially when they’re as long as BYU’s spring day. This year’s spring holiday proved to be no different as thousands of couples broke off their relationships during the hours apart.

Darby Johnson, a newly single student shared her experience:

“My boyfriend of 3 months flew home for Spring Day, and I guess while he was there he decided he didn’t see a future with me. He told me he wanted to have kids together yesterday.”

The Alternate Universe reached out to Darby’s ex-boyfriend, Bryson Dyson to get the scoop on why this is such a common occurrence with students. He stated:

“It was nice to have that 24 hour break. It made me realize that I actually don’t like Darby at all. Crazy how a long holiday break can make you come to your senses like that.”

Local young adult expert Nick Mo said of the phenomenon:

“When a couple can’t see each other every single day, a strange pattern occurs where one person decides the relationship is not working. And with Spring Day being as long and luxurious as it is, it’s understandable that couples can have second thoughts while apart.”
