BYU Temple Strong Among Conference Rumors

With the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints’ semi-annual General Conference just a few days away, very “credible sources” across the church have been hinting at some of the biggest changes to be announced. The possibility of a BYU Temple continues to stand out as one of the more reliable leaks.

Thanks to the speculative social media posts of friends of people who are acquainted with those who heard these anonymous sources suggest something, we are currently aware and strongly convinced of half a dozen monumental changes coming to the LDS church, including a 2 hour church block, temple boat, ban on microwaves and monthly mandatory stake steak barbecues. The BYU Temple rumor, however, is looking like more fact than fiction every day.

“I’m not one to spread rumors,” says one Sebastian Midway, a Sophomore studying Engineering, in his very uncharacteristic gossip post, “but my professor said someone close to President Worthen saw a temple blueprint on his desk.”

Sarah Bell was hired onto the BYU grounds crew just a month ago, and seemed to corroborate Sebastian’s theory: “The creating sign language choirs in every ward thing is definitely made up. A BYU temple though… I feel like that’s true. They’ve been having me clean up Brigham Square every day since I got this job, so I think that’s where they’ll build it.”

Other students appear to agree or at least hope that the BYU campus, which has more than 33,000 students enrolled, will get a temple of its own. Although the city of Provo already has two temples to its name, young adults argue that the temple across from the MTC “looks super weird” and “makes people feel like they need a name tag to enter.” The recently finished City Center Temple, on the other hand, is gorgeous but apparently loses patrons due to endowment sessions only occurring every hour, which “is the most stressful thing I can think of” according to freshman and self-proclaimed Mormon standard time practicer Brian Yoodle.

Although BYU students are excited to hear the big announcements this weekend, many are overwhelmed by the prospect of having to pay attention to every session of conference to catch them and even more intimated at the thought of having a temple so close that they have no excuse not to go.
