6 Prospective Sites for the Orem Temple

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints made the official announcement two weeks ago that a temple is to be built in Orem, Utah, surprising not only general members of the church but the people of Orem as well. The Orem City Council is now scrambling for perspective locations to start construction and have narrowed it down to the following options:

1. UVU Campus

There is ideal space for a temple on the campus. Students are already bragging that they wouldn’t ever have to step outside to get from classes and into the temple; However, officials of the Church are upset with this prospect due to it not being the holiest of ground.

2. Toys R Us

There are many empty store locations throughout the nation due to the company filing bankruptcy, but news is they will be back for the holiday season. The Orem Toys R Us could be converted into a temple in the meantime, but higher ups within Toys R Us stipulate that any displays of Geoffrey must not be taken down.

3. Orem High

BYU has yet again acquired another local high school, and the school is willing to donate assets for the building of the new temple. This would leave kids without a school to attend, but the city of Orem doesn’t seem too concerned about this fact.

4. Downtown Orem

Rumors are floating around that they may call the new temple the “Orem City Center Temple”. It would be located next to the Target in the not-so-historic downtown center of Orem.

5. Sleepy Ridge Country Club

This location has just been granted historic status by the Church in regards to it being the filming location of Provo’s Most Eligible Season 2. This possible site has many couples excited at the prospect of recreating their favorite moments of the reality show in their bridals and wedding photos.

6. MTC Exercise Field

The final location on the list is not even located in Orem. The Orem city council has discussed allowing Provo to acquire their third temple altogether and locate it directly south of the Provo temple where the missionaries typically exercise. As a result, Orem citizens would still have to travel to the same location for their temple attendance as they do now. Thankfully, the drive is not far.
