BYU professors quit over the lack of prevention promises

Along with many teachers resigning all over Utah, 82% of BYU professors have announced their resignation in the past week.

The majority of them have cited the lack of an unbreakable vow to never contract COVID-19 as the main reason for their resignation. Not having such a binding oath in place was apparently a huge safety hazard.

“I don’t think masks are really necessary,” said Professor Jonah Thymen. “All that we need to do to prevent the spread of coronavirus is pray and vow to never touch anything or anyone. As long as we do that simple thing, we’ll be fine! Why can’t anyone see that?”

Professor Thymen previously taught an advanced sewing course. He added that the requirement to incorporate a lesson on sewing custom masks was way too much to ask for.

“COVID-19 is only real if you talk about it,” said Dr. Grey Garnot. “BYU has put too many restrictions on campus and has made coronavirus such a big deal. I wasn’t surprised when cases in Utah started to spike– it’s because we all keep talking about it. Never mentioning the virus is another part of the unbreakable vow BYU should’ve implemented.”

The resigned professors stated that until BYU makes an unbreakable vow mandatory for every student as a preventative measure, they will not be returning to work at the university. As BYU is now scrambling to fill their faculty numbers, they ask that this article be shared to spread the word about the vacant teaching positions.
