BYU Grad Couple Thrilled About Cannon Center Take-Out Option: ‘Those Crank Tots Really Slap’

Brigham Young University has announced the Cannon Center’s take-out option in an effort to continue social distancing as the university re-opens. Starting in September, non-meal plan holders will be able to order take-out from the meal hall alongside students who actually depend on the Cannon Center for their meals. Dozens of families have expressed their excitement and relief regarding the announcement. Mary and Winston Matthews, who both graduated in 2017, are among these couples.

“We were just thrilled to hear the news about the Cannon Center,” Mary told us, “or the ‘Cank’ as we used to call it. When news about classes for BYU students being moved mostly online broke, the first thing my husband and I thought was ‘oh no, will we be able to introduce our kids to Sunday dinners at the Cank?’ And it turns out: we will!”

“Even though it won’t actually be at the Cannon Center, we just feel so blessed to be able to have the option to hit up the Cank, just like old times,” Winston added. “And maybe one day, we’ll be able to bring our kiddos to have a proper Sunday dinner at one of our favorite places.”

The Matthews aren’t alone in their excitement; inside sources report that the sheer volume of demand for Cannon Center take-out is what has pushed the release date back to mid-September.

“Who can blame them really?” commented BYU President Kevin J Worthen. “Meals at the Cank hit different. It just really slaps.”
