Bear and Tiger Bachmeier have made waves on the BYU football team this year, with Bear being the first true freshman quarterback in the team’s history. However, in a recent revelation that has rocked fans across the state, sources can now confirm that Bear and Tiger Bachmeier, BYU’s apex predators of the gridiron, have another brother: Cougar Bachmeier, a UVU senior studying accounting.
According to Alternate Universe reporters, this report came to light after Cougar was questioned about wearing a “Bachmeier Family Reunion 2017” t-shirt while buying a soda at a Maverik in Orem. Fans of the Bachmeiers are reeling in the aftermath.
One BYU Athletics staff member, speaking anonymously, said, “We ran his name through the system and could hardly believe our eyes. I just thought it was some marketing thing, but turns out, he’s a real dude.”
According to Cougar, “I felt drawn to the school, for some reason. I just connected on another level with the Wolverines, like I was meant to be here.”
In a statement released late on Friday, BYU Athletics distanced itself from the situation: “While we honor the Bachmeier family for their contributions to the football team, we cannot condone or acknowledge any relatives currently enrolled in rival institutions.”
Despite the public tensions, witnesses reported seeing Bear, Tiger, and Cougar having lunch together at Costa Vida, where Bear gave a short statement. “They actually tapped Cougar first for the QB1 position, but once they found out he’s an accountant, they dropped him pretty quick. He’s a cool dude though, and his intramural flag team is doing pretty well.”
There are some rumblings among students and admin that the Y is considering a mascot switch, but no official action has been taken. For now, students can cheer on their Cougars, or rather, those actually enrolled at the institution.
