Pop into the family group chat to congratulate your dad on his new position, because just yesterday it was announced that your dad will be replacing former defensive coordinator, Jay Hill. Hill recently betrayed BYU when he transferred to the Michigan staff, but the BYU football team is optimistic that this change is for the better.
“We know that y/n’s dad is going to make a big difference next season. His enthusiasm for the game will take our defense to the next level,” said coach Kalani Sitake. Sitake searched long and hard to find the perfect coordinator, but knew that he had to find a special person who would understand the team’s strengths and weaknesses. He felt confident that the best place to look would be in the stands of Lavell Stadium, where loyal dads have sat and analyzed the game for years.
In his search, Sitake found the perfect choice for BYU’s next defensive coordinator, your dad. Your dad, after all, always knows the best plays and believes he’s better than the coaches. “I knew that all of those years of yelling at the TV and watching BYU Sports Nation would pay off!” said your dad with tears in his eyes. He’s most excited for his moment to scream at the refs where they can actually hear him.
Training for next year’s season is already underway, and the Cougars have some tough games ahead of them. The team seems thrilled with this new defensive leadership. When questioned about how he felt about your dad being the new DC, Bear Bachmeier said, “Who?” and walked away.
Here’s another thrilling start for the Cougars and BYU dads across the nation.
