During this day of observance and remembrance, BYU students respectfully honor the student who truly put himself on the front lines.
“It doesn’t take a hero to order men to run around the marb. It takes a hero to be the man who runs around the marb,” shared Janna Justice, a self-proclaimed marb maxer.
Following the recent Instagram post documenting his 26-mile journey around this historical building, students began to feel sentimental about the Marbathon guy’s accomplishment. His achievement sparked feelings of admiration and gratitude for those who truly put in the work and the hours.
Matt Memo, president of the Marbathon Memorial Service Planning Committee, shared the following remark: “We will forever remember him as the brave one who did what we couldn’t.”
In addition to the student body, sweet and supportive BYU president Shane Reese also chimed in on the service, stating, “We encourage students to hide bananas and red bull in the bushes in his honor.” What a nice guy!
Along with President Reese, we encourage you to offer your support today to this on-campus icon in the form of bananas and energy drinks.
