The First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has notified general and local Church leaders of the newest question to be included in the temple recommend interview, including a statement on the importance of keeping the Law of Zeus as Latter-day Saints.
The additional question reads, “The Law of Zeus is the sacred responsibility to be hospitable hosts to all guests and travelers. Do you honor and obey the Law of Zeus?”
President Dallin H. Oaks explained, “The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has always affirmed the principles behind the Law of Zeus. How many times have you shown up to a missionary homecoming just to talk to their mom and eat free food?”
The First Presidency also referenced Mosiah 4:19 in the Book of Mormon as doctrinal support for the update:
“For behold, are we not all beggars?”
Updated interview questions can be found through this link, and are expected to be implemented immediately.
