Fresh off the heels of this summer’s hottest film, K-Pop Demon Hunters, the BYU Animation department is once again crafting their own take on the genre, with a clever twist. After last winter’s Inside Out BYU premiered to lukewarm reviews and “general confusion” (per The New York Times), executives at the university are confident that this film will be one that resonates with audiences.
According to studio heads, this film, titled Acapella Demon Hunters, is a depiction of the BYU Acapella scene. The girl group, “Note-able,” are a trio of acapella singers who also fight demons. These demons take the corporeal form of a five-member boy group, “Vocal Gesture,” who steal the souls of acapella fans in the greater Provo region.
“This is going to be a hit,” said director Annie Mator. “I think it will capture the hearts and minds of the children of Utah Valley. No one listens to K-pop, anyway.”
The film will be released on November 31, 2025.
